Test Metrics We Collect in a Test Project

Hi All,

Welcome Once Again to my Blog for yet another interesting topic in Testing.When we are doing our testing we collect few test metrics which helps us in guiding our way.

Let's start discuss them now:

During the Planning Stages of Testing

We,
Plan on the number of resources required,
Plan on the man days required for project completion.
Plan on the number of test cases required and how many can be completed per day.

During the Development Stages of Testing

We,
Plan on the Test Case Effectiveness and Adequacy

During the Execution Stages of Testing

We,
Do Effort and Schedule Variance
Number of Bugs found during testing-Segregating Priority Wise

During the Completion Stages of Testing

We,
Submit a report which contains information of the testing project as a whole which includes;

- Number of Days project Taken & Nos. of Days Actually Planned
- Number of Resources Worked & Nos. of Resources actually Worked
- Total nos. of Test cases written
- Total Nos. Defects found which includes (P1,P2,P3,& P4)

These are some of the Test Metrics we generally cover when we do a testing.
